What is the Whisperer Team?
The Whisperer Team is a network of grassroots community-focused teams of local empathetic and compassionate helpers, known as "Whisperers", who are available to have confidential conversations with those in a state of suicide distress, in order to help them face another day.
How do we do this?
When someone in suicide distress hands a Whisperer (or someone they trust) a GLASS EMPTY Signal coaster or deploys the signal, its a sign they need help from someone in the community to assist them in feeling safe again.
It's a way to start the conversation around how they're feeling.
Connection and conversation is an important part of recovery from suicide distress. A Whisperer is here to help with a confidential and empathetic chat.

What type of Whisperers Are There?
A Pub Whisperer works in a pub, club, bar or brewery and is trained in suicide prevention skills. A Community Whisperer, also trained in suicide prevention, supports the venue and its customers, by coming into the venue when a patron is struggling with suicide distress, should the staff be too busy or unable to chat.
Together they make The Whisperer Team.
