Thank you for coming on board as a Pub Whisperer - the difference you make, makes a difference!
Here is an easy one-hour online training to get all your staff versed in suicide prevention skills (click here to start the training)
Once you and your staff have completed the Blackdog Institute's Recognise and Respond course download and print a copy of the following posters and documents, for each participating staff member, so they have them ready in case a BRAVE conversation is needed.
Please ensure each staff member has a copy of:
1) Poster for TRICKY conversation values around suicide prevention.
2) How to have BRAVE Conversations.
3) The SIGNS of suicide distress.
4) The GLASS EMPTY brochure - a supportive guide for suicide prevention.
5) Whisperers ringing 000
6) Good samaritan document.
These steps are important for recognising when someone is in a state of suicide distress. Keeping these documents in an easy to access folder allows staff to respond to someone in distress quickly and effectively.

Step 1
Download, print and read the following posters. Then place them in a visible area for staff to see. Either in an easy to find folder for quick access or on a vacant wall available to staff.
Step 2
Download this Supportive Guide for Suicide Prevention, print and read it. It is designed to be double-sided to be printed on the short-edge option. This guide is to be given to someone in distress when they have deployed the GLASS EMPTY Signal and asked for help, or when they have discreetly handed over a GLASS EMPTY coaster to staff for a check-in.
This gives you some time between recognising when someone is in distress and when you are able to start a life-saving conversation to either get them feeling safe again (if you have the time to do so) or to find someone in the community who can assist.
